iGEM

Welcome to iGEM Düsseldorf!

The interdisciplinary "international Genetically Engineered Machine" (iGEM) competition is a competition for students of all disciplines who would like to work independently on a synthetic biology project. Over the course of a year, a good 350 teams from all over the world plan their creative solutions to current problems in order to present them at a major conference at the end of the iGEM year. In addition to the laboratory work, science communication and (artistic) presentation of the work, software and hardware as well as the financing of the project are also in demand.

In 2024, Düsseldorf is taking part in the competition for the ninth time and has won gold five times, silver twice and bronze once in previous years. Next year, the team will again try to bring the best possible result to Düsseldorf with the help of the numerous sponsors and supporters.
